Contributor: GarimaYesterday afternoon, out of the ordinarily, I was intuitively guided to stop at a local deli for grabbing lunch. I not only enjoyed the most perfect gluten-free vegan veggie lasagna there, but also experienced something more amazing. As I was waiting for my meal to be warmed up, I was completely lost in my thoughts. Suddenly, a lady said Hi and started a conversation with me as she noticed my pregnant belly. She congratulated me on my pregnancy and complemented me on how great I looked. She further asked me how I was feeling and when I am due. After responding to her questions and thanking her for her thoughtfulness, I noticed her infant tucked into a baby carrier and couldn’t help express the beauty I saw in her perfect baby. I congratulated her on her new journey of motherhood and commended on how lovingly she’s playing her role as a Mama. This random stranger's words were sweet and full of encouragement, but most importantly, I was blown away by the supportive and loving vibration she held for me. Her energy was powerful as it made me smile and to be in gratitude for her kindness. A few hours later as I was riding this high of emotion, this news story popped up on my phone and got me thinking. Currently, there is a lot wrong going in the world, and it’s easy to get caught up in how we are perceived to be failing as a human race, but I choose to focus my attention on the good. I still see kindness and compassion in people's eyes and actions. Every day, countless heroes within our communities are diligently preventing suicides, allowing patients to enjoy their lives after successful medical treatments and providing support to those struggling with managing mental health issues and addictions. The fire fighters, police, military, educators, public service professionals are doing their bit in keeping us safe and a thriving society. On a daily basis, I still see people politely holding doors for each other, offering their seats to those who are disabled and elderly and creating heart-centered conversations in delis. I constantly see people uplifting others through their emotional support. I can go on and on with my examples, but the idea is - kindness and compassion still continue to guide people to selflessly do good for others. Whether we are rich or poor, men or women, white or black, straight or gay, Muslims or Christians, democrats or republicans - we have the same flesh, blood and hearts that beat to the music of love. We may share different ideologies, but no one is inferior or superior than the other. Who says that we can't exist peacefully amid our differences? As long as we set the vibration of love and acceptance, nothing can stop us from living in complete harmony with each other. Let's do our bit in holding this loving space for each other. Let’s curb judging others, proving ourselves better and promoting the feelings of cynicism. Let's stop expecting and waiting for others to play nice. Our job is to step up our game Right Now and be the example for others to follow. Let's co-create together a beautiful new world where we lift each other up and live together harmoniously on this earth. A world that we take pride in!
